EBERLY ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15
Bringing contemporary American cuisine to South Lamar
AUSTIN, Texas (Oct 12, 2016) -- Eberly, a thoughtful collection of dining, drinking and thinking spaces, officially opens to the public in its entirety on Saturday, October 15, with dinner service beginning at 5 p.m. Encompassing 15,000 square feet, the space includes the Dining Room, a welcoming study, an expansive rooftop terrace overlooking downtown and the historic and stunning Cedar Tavern bar of Greenwich Village in New York City.
Forged from an old print shop on South Lamar, Eberly serves as a tribute to Angelina Eberly, a local innkeeper who stood up to President Sam Houston and his Texas Rangers by firing a cannon to stave off a rebellion and preserve Austin as the capital of Texas in 1846.
“Austin has always been a gathering place for risk takers and liberated thinkers to connect and feed off each other’s energy,” said Eddy Patterson, co-founder of Eberly. “We wanted to create something that reflected the craftsmanship, creativity and individualism that represents Austin, and we’re excited to contribute to that spirit and pay tribute to this great city’s legacy.”
The space was envisioned in collaboration with Michael Dickson of ICON Design + Build and Mickie Spencer, designer of numerous iconic Austin establishments, and includes:
● Dining Room: Helmed by Executive Chef, Jim Tripi, and Executive Pastry Chef, Natalie Gazaui, the Dining Room at Eberly offers contemporary American cuisine with timeless favorites that incorporate a modern spin. With an emphasis on freshness, seasonality and local availability, everything served out of the kitchen will be made from scratch. From modern dishes with fresh coastal influence to old world classics, Eberly’s cuisine will use refined techniques to elevate local ingredients into thoughtfully prepared creations. Lighter items include tuna tartare, a selection of East and West Coast oysters, red snapper crudo and the archive salad. Heartier dishes such as the braised short rib with ricotta gnudi and celeric fondue, as well as the porchetta Milanese embody the soul of Austin. Internationally-influenced house favorites from the bakery will include chocolate babka, sticky buns, dulce de leche alfajores, baklava brioche, basque cake and more.
● Cedar Tavern: Offering classic cocktails and local craft beers, with a cocktail program by Kelon Bryant of Justine’s Brasserie and The Continental Club, the Cedar Tavern is home to Eberly’s crown jewel, the 150-year-old historic Cedar Tavern bar of Greenwich Village in New York City that once was a hangout for the likes of Bob Dylan, Jackson Pollock and Jack Kerouac. Considered a living piece of history and a true work of art, the bar was carefully disassembled into hundreds of pieces, relocated and finally brought to life in Austin.
● Study: A welcoming study connects the Cedar Tavern to the Dining Room, serving as a coffee shop and co-working space by day and an extension of the Cedar Tavern at night. Encompassing 1,000 square feet of space, the study houses a collection of 500 books, sourced from co-founder John Scott’s late mother and former professor of philosophy at Texas Tech University, Frances Scott. Patrons are encouraged to make the space their own as a gathering place to relax, work, think and create throughout the day.
● Rooftop terrace: A 4,000 square foot rooftop patio sits atop Eberly, overlooking downtown Austin. The patio will offer its own bar and garden, growing fresh produce and herbs that chefs and bartenders can then use to integrate into unique dishes and cocktails. Eberly will also utilize a six-acre piece of land in Austin to provide additional fresh produce.
Eberly is located at 615 South Lamar Blvd and will begin with dinner service starting at 5 pm on Saturday, October 15, with lunch, breakfast and weekend brunch to follow. The Dining Room will offer dinner Sunday - Thursday from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Friday - Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Cedar Tavern is open from 5 p.m. seven days a week.
